About the position

At Money Forward, we are dedicated to transforming financial services using advanced technology. With over 50 services for individuals and businesses, including popular products like Money Forward ME and Money Forward Cloud, we help make managing money easier. We use cutting-edge “account aggregation” technology to gather user data, turning it into useful insights for our customers.

Within the Money Forward Business Segment (MFBS), Money Forward Cloud is a component-based cloud ERP composed of multiple service groups. While these groups provide flexibility for users to choose combinations based on their needs, developing them in isolation can lead to data silos, inconsistent user experiences, and reduced development efficiency. To solve this, our Platform Product Division (PPD) builds the common foundations that unify these services and ensures their stable use across the company.

Our division is responsible for developing and managing shared microservices and backend systems that power workflows and platform functionality across Money Forward Cloud. We work to standardize services, improve collaboration across products, and enhance performance and scalability. By organizing complex system logic, addressing technical debt, and documenting our knowledge, we aim to create a reliable, maintainable, and future-ready platform that delivers consistent value for both developers and end-users.

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Engineer with expertise in designing and building reliable software solutions that enhance user experience and support our growth by writing and reviewing code daily. You’ll be at the center of execution – ensuring delivery, supporting engineers, and engaging with product and management to align priorities, while contributing to the development of essential infrastructure services and helping to expand our business.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend systems and microservices through active daily coding and code reviews.
  • Set technical direction for platform projects, translating complex business requirements and domain logic into sound, future-ready architecture.
  • Proactively identify operational risks, reduce technical debt, and enforce high standards for software security, performance, and system reliability.
  • Plan and execute core infrastructure initiatives to ensure long-term platform stability, development efficiency, and seamless cross-product integration.
  • Provide technical mentorship to engineers, elevating the team’s engineering standards, troubleshooting techniques, and problem-solving capabilities.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience developing and operating medium-to-large-scale web services, with strong expertise in Golang.
  • Proven track record in designing scalable backend architectures, microservices, and robust Web APIs leveraging AWS, relational databases (SQL), and sound data modeling.
  • Deep knowledge of backend system design and automated testing strategies to ensure long-term system scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Demonstrated ability to make critical technical decisions, mentor engineers, foster team growth, and champion software engineering best practices.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives alongside product managers, designers, and leadership.
  • Strong sense of ownership, self-direction, and resilience in fast-moving, evolving environments.
  • Business level English proficiency (TOEIC score of 700 or above equivalent).

Nice to haves

While not specifically required, tell us if you have any of the following.

  • Experience with Kafka and event-driven or message-driven architectures to build scalable, decoupled systems.
  • Practical knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) to model and organize complex business domains.
  • Experience working within multicultural, multinational engineering teams across diverse backgrounds.
  • Advanced AWS expertise, specifically focused on cloud architecture optimization and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies, including sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives.
  • Japanese proficiency is not required but nice to have.

Compensation

¥7,008,000 ~ ¥11,004,000 annually.
